Wike accuses Amaechi of neglecting riverine link road

Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has accused outgoing Rivers State governor, Mr. Romiti Amaechi, of neglecting the link road leading to the riverine area of the state.
He said funds meant for the link road had been used for All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaigns.
Wike, yesterday, when he paid a thank you visit to the people of Andoni Local Government Area at Ngo town, for voting for him during the PDP governorship primaries, said if Amaechi had expended the over N30 billion being used to sponsor the APC presidential candidate, Muhammad Buhari, on the road from Bori through Andoni to Opobo-Nkoro, the road would have been completed.
“The abandonment of the major link road to the riverine area by Amaechi was because he resolved to expend Rivers money on APC activities and their presidential candidate. For us, this road will be our priority once we get into office. We will ensure that we link the upland to the riverine by completing the road to the riverine area.”
He said that the deprivation riverine people suffered under the outgoing APC leadership will be addressed when he takes over in 2015.
Addressing the gathering, PDP Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, regretted that the outgoing Rivers State governor had handed over the finances of the state to the APC leadership.
