The incident which took place in Baruten local government area of the state also claimed the life of another child three of whom were of the same parents while the fourth one was said to have passed the night with the family of the other victims.
Reports have it that the lightning at the commercial nerve centre of the town struck during a downpour between 12 midnight on Tuesday and 1am on Wednesday, May 27.
The lightening was said to have killed all four children while those injured were hospitalised. Sources said the lightening broke down the wall of the house, and that the remains of the victims have been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
It was further learned that the down pour also blew off the roofing sheets of many houses in the town, rendering some residents homeless.
Meanwhile, the Ogun woman, identified as Funmilayo Adeyanju, who killed her son at Ogunso area of Otta in Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government Area of the state, allegedly stabbed her child, Emmanuel,several times on the head and other parts of the body with a knife.
Vanguard gathered that the child was a product of an alleged incestuous relationship between the woman and her own biological father.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident, saying policemen from Ota Division had visited the scene of the crime and taken the corpse of the child to the mortuary.
Adejobi also disclosed that the woman, who was immediately arrested by the police, put up some strange behaviours when questioned about the alleged crime.
The PPRO said:
“The police have been to the scene to recover the body of the child. The woman has been acting strangely like a person who is of unsound mind. The police would carry out proper investigation.
“The police will work on the state of mind of the woman and will have to seek the help of an expert to know her mental state.”
