Photo:Twin Sisters Give Birth on the Same Day

Like many twins, Katie Bowden and Amy Meredith-Davies have shared a lot of milestones throughout their lives. Now the Welsh sisters have one more thing in common, after giving birth to their first children on the same day.
In a further coincidence the women gave birth to their babies within hours of their own 30th birthdays.
Katie turned 30 on June 9, while Amy, who was born just after midnight, was 30 on June 10 - the day both sisters gave birth.
Katie gave birth to daughter Ella, who weighed 3.3kg, at 5.38am. Amy welcomed son Henry, who weighed 3.8kg, at 11.15pm the same day.
"It was bizarre because I was in labour and had a message from my mother saying Amy was being induced," Katie told WalesOnline.
"But still I thought that would be the next day.
"It was really funny because when my mum came to visit she would tell the midwife that she now had to leave to see my twin who was also having a baby.
"Everyone thought it was amazing."
Despite arriving on the same day, the baby cousins were actually due three days apart: Katie's due date was June 2, while Amy's was June 5.
The sisters are adamant neither of them knew the other was trying for a baby.
"We hadn't spoken about it. I'd been trying for a few months and because I've got polycystic ovaries I'd been to get tested," Katie said.
"I just can't get over the fact that we fell pregnant at the same time."
The sisters' pregnancies were both revealed at their father's 70th birthday party.
"We were supposed to be going paintballing as a family but I'd just found out I was pregnant so couldn't take part," Katie told WalesOnline.
"I'd told my mother but my sister had guessed I was pregnant and asked my mother at a family meal, revealing that she was too. So within one weekend my parents found out we were both pregnant."
Despite the fact they gave birth in hospitals 40 kilometres apart, the sisters still felt they were sharing the experience.
"My waters had broken the day before and I was being induced which was really painful," Amy told WalesOnline.
"I was asked if I wanted an epidural and because I knew Katie was going through the same thing I felt happier about the decision."
As well as the excitement the sisters' pregnancies brought to their family, there was also double the worry.
"As well as worrying about your own baby you worry for your twin," Katie said.
"It was quite an anxious time."
The safe arrival of baby cousins Ella and Henry have ensured June will be a time of much joy for their extended family.
"June is going to be a month of major celebrations in the family as my husband Ollie's birthday is exactly a week after mine – or ours, I should say," Amy said.
"I think we'll have a big celebration next year because we didn't really do much to celebrate our 30th  – but we did have the best presents ever!"
