Three Nigerians Nabbed by UAE Police For Hacking US Accounts

The Ministry of Interior captured a gang of three Nigerian cyber criminals who were targeting the electronic bank accounts of American citizens and organisations.

The gang residing in an Ajman apartment, hacked the American victims’ accounts and emails to steal their personal information and use them in their fraudulent activities.
The ministry said in a statement that it received information from American security authorities in California about the gang’s cyber criminal activities, revealing that they are headquartered in the UAE.
In order to capture them, a professional security team comprising police members from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ajman police was formed.
The team tracked the activity of the criminals and was able to capture the leader of the gang, 24-year-old B.A, 26-year-old J.A. and 26-year-old A.A. The last member entered the country on a tourist visa.
The ministry revealed that police members made the arrest after making sure that all of the gang members were in the Ajman apartment.
When police raided their hideout in the emirate of Ajman, officers found a list of more than five million electronic bank accounts.
The mastermind of the cell is aged 24, while the other two are both 26. They had all entered the UAE as tourists.
Cybercrimes are punishable by imprisonment and fines of up to two million dirhams ($545 million) in the UAE.
