Some Niger Delta Militants are reported to have this morning blown up a strategic oil pipeline in Warri South West local government area in Delta state barely hours after a Lagos high court ordered the arrest of a former Niger Delta warlord, Government Ekpemupolo Tompolo.
The militants also blew up oil pipelines between Ikpokpo and Odidi flow stations, mostly in Gbaramatu kingdom. According to reports, the attacks started shortly before midnight and lasted till the early hours of today.
Residents of the area are said to have fled their homes for fear of a gun battle between the militants and the military.
