Ex- Niger Delta Militants Protest In Warri, Demands SA on Amnesty Programme

Ex-militants in the Niger Delta region yesterday took to major streets in Warri Delta state to request President Muhammadu Buhari to, as a matter of urgency, fill the vacant position of Special Adviser SA on amnesty programme at the federal level.


The Thousands of ex-militants in Phase One, Second Phase and Third Phase of the Presidential Amnesty Programme carried placards with inscriptions saying,

“We want credible leaders like Mr. Famous Daunemugha to be appointed; We are like sheep without shepherd; Daunemugha is a unifying force; Buhari don’t leave us in disarray,” charged the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, government to make their demand a priority.

The trio of Mr. Preye Ekpebide, Mr. Ayakpo Niekebi and Mr. Founkoro Dia, leaders of ex-militants from Delta, Bayelsa and Ondo states for the three phases of the amnesty programme, endorsed Mr. Daunemugha as their preferred choice to occupy the position of Special Adviser or Chairman, Presidential Amnesty Programme.
They posited that they decided to embark on the march to inform Nigerians that leaving them without a man that would link them to the presidency for almost one month was causing mixed feeling amongst them.
Vanguard reports,they maintained that they had projected Daunemugha whom they described as a youth that has the interest of the region at heart, trust worthy and a bridge builder to fill the vacant position of SA to the President Amnesty Programme.
They noted that Daunemugha is a strong supporter of APC and a youth mobiliser, stressing that if given the opportunity to serve at the federal level, he will bring his experience to bear and make youths of the region cooperate with the Federal Government.
