Dr. Alex Otti, the 2015 Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Friday escaped assassination attempt by unknown gunmen in Abuja.
Narrating the incident to newsmen in his campaign office in Umuahia on Friday, Otti said that the gunmen attacked his guest house at Maitama, Abuja, at about 2 a.m., and shot a policeman on duty to death.
The former Managing Director of Diamond Bank said the gunmen scaled through the wire gauze of the wall fence of the guest house, headed for his apartment and ransacked everywhere, after killing the policeman.
Otti explained that the incident happened a day after he traveled to Umuahia to attend the hearing of his governorship election petition at the tribunal on Friday.

His words:Otti, who said that the information about the incident was still sketchy, added that he did not suspect anybody or group, expressing confidence that investigations being carried out by the police would expose the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
“Only God knows what would have happened to me, if I had spent the night in Abuja.
“I had spent the whole previous week in that house until Thursday, when I left for Abia to attend the sitting of the election tribunal in which I filed a petition to claim my denied victory at the poll.
“I believe it was a clear assassination attempt and I thank God and pray that such attempt will not happen again,’’ he said.
