Senators React' To Mrs Saraki’s Invitation By The EFCC

Toyin Saraki
‘Like Minds’ senators who are loyal to Senate President Bukola Saraki have described as “curious”, the invitation of the wife of the Senate President, Toyin Saraki, by  the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Toyin Saraki’s who on Wednesday  confirmed her office received an invitation from the EFCC, promised to cooperate with the agency on “any lawful enquiry” through Olagoke, Mrs Saraki’s private special adviser in a statement which read in part:
 Olagoke wrote:
“Her Excellency, Mrs Toyin Saraki, Founder of Wellbeing Foundation Africa and wife of the Senate President has been informed by her office that a letter of invitation was delivered to her office, by and from the EFCC.
“As Mrs Saraki has no idea what this invitation could pertain to, she has directed an immediate and formal response, to the EFCC, that she will be delighted to assist them with any lawful enquiries they may have, as a law abiding, transparent and accountable private citizen.

But in a statement signed by Dino Melaye, on behalf of the ‘Like Mind’ senators claimed that the decision of the EFCC to invite Mrs Saraki “created a lot of coincidences, which any discerning mind will not want to ignore”.
It  Read;
“Though, we do not want to make any hasty conclusion, we are surprised that about five years after the Sarakis left Government House, Ilorin, the EFCC suddenly realized the need to invite the wife. We hope this is not part of the plot we have heard about aimed at wrestling the Senate President down with different tactics,”
“We have heard some of our colleagues and their sponsors boasting about throwing all types of mud at the leadership of the senate in the bid to force it to accept their conditions.

"The EFCC definitely should perform its lawful duties but we warn that it should not return us to the dark days when the anti-graft agency was frequently and flagrantly used as a political weapon.” they said.

They promised to “watch closely, the developments around the Mrs Saraki invitation” and later make their position known to members of the public.
