The Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. David Parradang,was yesterday suspended from work by President Buhari. The President also directed the most senior Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Martin Kure Abeshi, to take over in acting capacity.
The Director of Press, Ministry of Interior, Yusuf Isiaka Alhaji, who confirmed the suspension in a terse statement said;
Recall Parradang who was appointed into office in June 2013 was also indicted in the recruitment scandal which led to the death of at least 19 job seekers across Nigeria, during a nationwide recruitment test conducted by the NIS, on Saturday, March 16, 2014.
The Director of Press, Ministry of Interior, Yusuf Isiaka Alhaji, who confirmed the suspension in a terse statement said;
“The Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Mr. David Parradang, has been suspended from office with immediate effect.
“Meanwhile, the Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration Service, Mr. Martin Kure Abeshi, who is the most senior officer, has been directed to take over the affairs of the office.”Femi Adesina, in an SMS to Vanguard dispelled insinuations in some quarters that Parradang was suspended because an ISIS chief, Ahmed Al Assir, got entry visa at the Nigerian embassy in Lebanon to visit Nigeria.He said:
Find Mr Parradang's Suspension letter below;“The suspension of Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS), David Parradang, today (Friday), was not connected to the probe of how the ISIS chief got the Nigerian visa but for unauthorized recruitment into the Immigration Service.”
