Ritualists Abandon Woman’s Corpse at Refuse Dump in Ogun

Suspected ritualists have abandoned the corpse of a 23-year-old alleged commercial sex worker at Olomoore Junction in the outskirts of the state capital.
The body of the victim, identified as Sitira, was found yesterday morning at a dumpsite in the area with a large chunk of the flesh on her right hand cut.
Checks revealed that a relation identified the corpse of the victim, suspected to be one of the commercial sex workers operating within the Abeokuta metropolis, after a police rescue team from the Lafenwa Divisional Police headquarters evacuated the body from the dumpsite.

Daily Sun gathered that the deceased, who was in company with another lady, whose whereabouts was unknown as at press time, was alleged to have been thrown out of a moving sport utility vehicle (SUV) at the Olomoore refuse dump.

When the scene was visited the dumpsite, it was littered with items suspected to belong to the victim and her missing friend.

The items found at the scene, included pants, brassieres, ladies’ armless camisole, lipsticks, powder kits, nail-paint and a pack of cotton wool.

It was gathered that Sitira’s corpse was on the ground about 500 metres from the ladies’ items strewn about the scene.
Upon close observation, it was discovered that a substantial amount of the flesh from her right hand had been cut off.

Speaking with journalists amid sobs, a middle-aged woman, Esther Adewuyi, who claimed to be Sitira’s relation, explained that the 23-year-old lady had been living with her mother in the Iberekodo area of Abeokuta North Local Government Area after the death of her only child about two years ago.

Adewuyi added that Sitira, who was an apprentice hairdresser, was last seen in the house at about 10 pm on Saturday night, where they both had discussions about the victim’s plans for her graduation.

She insisted that nobody, including her younger siblings, knew when she went out on Saturday night.

Efforts to get the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, failed because he did not pick calls made to his phone.
