 The Publisher Newsday Newspaper, Chief Edet Isong has cautioned people that are in habit of spreading false stories and engaging in blackmail to desist from such negative acts as such acts are capable of hurting a person’s profile and misleading the public into believing such concocted stories.

Chief Isong who spoke with reporters last week, condemned the recent online publications and stories that stated that stacks of money was discovered at the Akwa Ibom State Government House after invasion by the operatives of the Directorate of State Services.

The publisher lashed out at such blackmails as cheap publicity, unprofessional and a cheap avenue to mislead the public and wondered why persons would go ahead to manipulate pictures of stacks of money all in the name to paint the Akwa Ibom State Government in bad light in the eye of the world.

He said that response by the former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Senator Godswill Akpabio that the pictures that circulated on the internet were false as it was taken in Iraq several years ago and wondered why some persons would take such wicked delight in deceiving the unsuspecting public on the true state of events.

He charged the Directorate of State Services to publicly make known their findings and wondered why they have kept mute till date if truly any of the issues raised were actually found at the Government House.

 He condemned the invasion of the premises as a violation of the immunity of the Executive Governor and urged the Akwa Ibom Sate Government to remain resolute and focused in delivering dividends of democracy to the state.

He urged the people of the state to respect their leaders and desist from acts and comments that would put the leaders in bad taste as he said that they are capable of hurting the state’s image while charging the DSS to be bold in making a statement to put the records straight for the good of the people and the state.

It will recalled that on September 23, 2015, former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Senator Godswill Akpabio had stated while at the anniversary of the state creation that never was any stack of money found in the Government House and the pictures that were circulated on the internet were manipulated as it was money seized in Iraq in 2011 which he challenged the people to check.
