Meanwhile Mr Umanah, the Commissioner for Information had earlier told newsmen in the state capital that the Dakkada Initiative currently promoted by Governor Udom Emmanuel administration, is beyond the celebration of state creation happening tomorrow, September 23rd.
Mr Umanah made the disclosure while briefing the Dakkada Initiative and the celebration of the state’ creation held Monday, September 21, 2015.
While acknowledging the contribution of the press and their role in the communication of government policies and activities, he charged them to use their platforms to spread the message of Dakkada re-orientation campaign of the Udom Emmanuel administration urging Akwa Ibom to rise to greatness.
The commissioner highlighted events and activities scheduled to mark the 28th anniversary of the state creation to include; commissioning of renovated St. Luke’s Hospital, flagging off construction of roads and bridges in the state amongst others.
High point of the celebration will be the carnival float from the three senatorial districts of the state, the carnival train will be received by his Excellency the Governor on Good Ebele Jonathan Boulevard, leading them on a match to the Nest of Champions- Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, to declare the Dakkada creed, plant a seed of greatness, and kick off fan fare and celebrations.
The briefing had Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information & Commission, the Honourable Commissioner of the Ministry of Culture & Tourism, Obong Emmanuel Ibiok, hundreds of journalists from the print, broadcasting, electronic and online media amongst others top government officials in attendance.
In commemoration of the 28th Anniversary of the creation of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has declared Wednesday, 23rd September, 2015 as a work free day in the State.Accordingly, citizens and residents are requested to come out en-masse and join in the celebration of this historic moment.
