Sokoto Woman Flogged 12 Strokes for Practicing Witchcraft

A 65-year-old woman in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State was on Wednesday reportedly flogged with twelve strokes as punishment for allegedly practicing witchcraft.

Daily Sun reports that the victim, Zainab Labbo, was flogged at the palace of the District Head, Alhaji Nasiru Malami Ahmed, after her daughter-in-law accused her of witchcraft.
It was gathered that the victim’s daughter-in-law had told the traditional ruler last year that she was aiding her son (name withheld) through diabolical means to mal-treat her.

The residents revealed that the palace authorities summarily tried the accused and found her guilty of the allegation leveled against her.

The aged woman denied the allegation before journalists, who were there to investigate the incident.
She also confirmed that twelve strokes were administered on her by the palace guards on the order of the District Head.
