Sultan Of Sokoto Declares Sept.24 Eid-el-Kabir Day

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar has declared Tuesday as the first day of Zulhijja, 1436 AH.
Consequently, Eid-el-Kabir is to be celebrated in Nigeria on Thursday, Sept. 24, equivalent to 10th Zulhijja, 1436 AH, a statement said.


The statement was signed by Sa'idu Maccido on behalf of the Chairman, Sultanate Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Junaid.

The statement said the National Moon Sighting Committee did not receive any report from across the country confirming the sighting of the new Moon of Zulhijja, 1436 AH, on Sunday, Sept. 13, which was the 29th day of Zulki'ida 1436 AH.

''His Eminence, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, has accepted the report and accordingly declared Tuesday, 15th Sept., 2015 as the first day of Zulhijja,1436 AH,'' it explained.
Saudi Arabian authorities had on Sunday declared that the Arafat , which precedes Eid-el-Kabir celebrated by Muslims across the world on 10th Zulhijja, would be marked on Wednesday, Sept. 23. (NAN)
