He said,
“I just passed the roadside market and was sitting in front of my house when we heard two loud explosions. We rushed to the scene and discovered that the blast had killed many people and injured many others.
“Soldiers came and cordoned off the scene; I don’t know the casualty figure, but it seems to be high because many ambulances were coming to evacuate the dead and the injured to the hospital.”
Meanwhile, the Force Spokesperson, ACP Olabisi Kolawole today,Saturday disclosed in a statement in Abuja that the blast that occurred in Kuje and Nyanya areas of the Federal Capital Territory were carried out by two suicide bombers, a male and a female.
He quoted the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase as saying that the perpetrators of the act did so in shame of cowardice.

Arase however assured that no matter the aim of the bombers, Nigeria will not accommodate terrorists’ acts.
He however urged Nigerians to be vigilant at all times and report any suspicious persons or objects to the nearest Police Station or any other security agencies for prompt intervention

Following the blast, the Inspector-General has ordered a stop-and-search operation in and around Abuja.
