President Muhammadu Buhari has fired, Ibrahim Lamorde, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
According to reports Lamorde was immediately replaced by Ibrahim Magu, a senior official in the commission’s Economic and Governance Unit who will serve as acting chairman of the commission.
Lamorde emerged chairman after then chairman, Farida Waziri was sacked by then-President Goodluck Jonathan in November 2011.
Meanwhile a Senate committee in August launched a probe into allegations that Lamorde diverted stolen assets and cash recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Lamorde who had denied the $5 billion allegations was scheduled to appear before the Senate committee Tuesday regarding the accusations.
