Gunmen Abducts Akwa Ibom Information Commissioner’s Brother

Mr. Ifiok Umanah, the elder brother to Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Aniekan Umanah has been abducted by unknown gunmen.
Nations reports, Umanah was abducted along Hospital Road in Abak by unknown gunmen who shot sporadically into the air to scare away passersby before taking away their target.



When contacted, the commissioner, who was not in the state when the incident happened, said:

“There is no contact yet. You know I’m not around, I just came in. Security operatives are working hard to ensure his rescue.”

According to reports, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Cordelia Nwawe, could not be reached for comments on the incident.
