The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has termed the ongoing anti-corruption war by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration "selective".
In Reaction to the recent arrest and detention of Olisa Metuh,the spokesman for the People's Democratic Party. The senate leader stated that the party is in full support of an objective anti-corruption crusade, but not a selective prosecution, which he said the Economic Financial Crimes Commission has embarked on.
Ekweremadu who spoke through his Special Adviser, Uche Anichukwu said:
APC Assistant Director of Publicity, Mr. Edegbe Odemwingie in a statement wondered why the PDP chieftains were against Buhari’s war on corruption.
He said:

Also All Progressives Congress (APC), has reacted to statements credited to the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Ekiti state Governor, Ayo Fayose who accused Muhammadu Buhari led administration of fighting a selective anti-corruption war.“An anti-graft trap that catches only members of the opposition and those with axe to grind with the government of the day is compromised”.He further said the continued detention of Metuh is a move to silent the opposition, which he said is not healthy for Nigeria's growing democracy.Ekweremadu called on federal government to respect the rule of law and not abuse the rights of citizens in the name of anti-corruption crusade.
APC Assistant Director of Publicity, Mr. Edegbe Odemwingie in a statement wondered why the PDP chieftains were against Buhari’s war on corruption.
He said:
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) is aware of the intensified orchestrated attacks by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their agents on the hugely successful war against corruption being waged by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.”Also, the APC National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni, said
“The party is also aware of the plot by the PDP and their agents to stampede and blackmail anti-corruption agencies over ongoing corruption cases being investigated.Adding that “The APC urges anti-corruption agencies not to be distracted by these syndicated and coordinated attacks and continue to employ all legal and legitimate avenues to bring to book all looters of our common wealth.”
“In three orchestrated press statements issued on Friday, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose among others alleged plans by the APC and President Buhari’s administration to silence the opposition through a selective anti-corruption fight. Also, the acting National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus on Friday accused the APC of attempting to turn the country into a one party state.”
