NLC Issues Notice of strike To FirstBank, Diamond, Ecobank, Others Over Mass Sack

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Wednesday, issued a strike notice to six banks threatening to shut down the banks and their outlets nationwide if they failed to recall sacked staffs.
However, the NLC gave the banks a 14-day ultimatum, commencing  from today, “to immediately recall all workers so sacked and allow unionisation of workers or face industrial action.”

ASUU Joins NLC Indefinite Strike Over New Petrol Price

The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU have joined striking Nigeria Labour Congress over the new petrol pump price.Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, the National President of the association, sent out a letter to the congress nationwide yesterday May 17th. According to Ogunyemi, the move by the government to remove oil subsidy and increase fuel pump price was insensitive and callous.

NLC, TUC Demand N56,000 as New National Minimum Wage

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have jointly proposed and presented N56, 000 as the new minimum wage to the Federal Government.
The current national minimum wage is N18, 000.
The NLC president, Ayuba Wabba, said this at a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja.
