Court Grants Femi Fani-Kayode Bail (Photos)

A Federal High Court in Lagos today granted Femi Fani-Kayode bail in the sum of N250m.
The former Minister of Aviation has been in custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged fraud of over N4.9bn.

Ogah Receives INEC Certificate Of Return As Abia Governor

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Abia state  who came second at the 2015 general elections has received return certificate from the Independent National Electoral Commission following Monday’s sack of Okezie Ikpeazu, by a federal high court sitting in Abuja.
Justice Okon Abang, giving judgment on a suit filed by Ogah, agreed with the plaintiff that Ikpeazu evaded tax prior to his election, and as such was‎ not qualified to hold an elective office.

Court Grants Order To Freeze Jide Omikore, Kola Aluko's Assets Worth Over $1.8 Billion

A Federal high court in Lagos has granted a Mareva injunction permitting the Nigerian government to freeze assets owned by two Nigerian businessmen Kola Aluko and Jide Omokore, and their company Atlantic Energy. The individuals are linked to former Nigerian oil minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke in a wide range shady business dealings that illegally transferred Nigerian oil assets to them and their companies.

Court Jails Ex-NIMASA DG Over N1.5b Contract Scam

A Federal High Court seating in Lagos today sentenced former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Raymond Omatseye, to five years in prison over a N1.5 billion contract.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had charged Omatseye on 27 counts bordering on bid rigging and contract splitting.
Chief Godwin Obla (SAN) appeared as lead counsel for the EFCC, while Edoka Onyeke appeared for the convict.
Delivering her judgment by fiat on Friday, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia found Omatseye guilty of 24 out of the 27 counts brought against him.
The Judge, however, discharged and acquitted him of three out of the 27 counts bordering on bid rigging.
Ofili-Ajumogobia found Omatseye guilty of awarding contracts above the stipulated threshold and convicted him on counts one to 20, 24, 25, 26 and 27.
